2019 Tavola Reindeer Run Offers Holiday Fun and Friendly Competition
Friendswood Development Company’s fourth annual USATF-certified Tavola Reindeer Run was hosted in the developer’s community of Tavola, located in New Caney, TX. The holiday-themed race, which was held on December 7, attracted more than 450 participants for both the 5K and 1K.
The Tavola Recreation Center buzzed with activity and holiday spirit as kids lined up for a candy cane and keepsake photo with Santa and Mrs. Claus. The Recreation Center was also the site for a crafts activity and “letters to Santa” station. Grazaffi Coffee kept all the attendees fueled with made-to-order espresso drinks and hot chocolate. The event also featured outdoor attractions for kids, including a rock wall and bounce house. Complimentary breakfast biscuits were provided courtesy of sponsor Chick-fil-A, and an assortment of freshly baked bread was handed out to runners, courtesy of Great Harvest Bread Co.
Right before the race, Porter High School student Sara Gonzalez gave an acapella performance of the National Anthem and a pre-race stretch was led by trainers at Camp Gladiator. Each runner received a finisher medal, and the post-race awards ceremony was emceed by Geoff and Lauren of MIX 96.5. Trophies were awarded to runners in the following age groups: 12 & Under, 13-15, 16-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60 & Up. Congratulations to (overall) winners Mike Taylor of Porter, with a time of 17:28 and Gemma Hollis of The Woodlands, with a time of 20:15. Each of these runners received both a trophy and $100 cash award. (Complete race results can be found here.)
During the event, participants were encouraged to visit all model homes for an enter-to-win opportunity. The winner, who will be announced soon, will be awarded an Apple iPad.
