NCHS Auto Tech Advances to State

Congratulations to New Caney High School’s Auto Tech for a fantastic job in their competition. The team received Best in Show for Short Block and Motorcycle Technology, and are now advancing to the State competition! New Caney High School’s Auto Tech is led by Mr. Matt Parker.

Students in Auto Tech go through three classes for a full understanding of the field – Principles, Automotive Technology and Advanced Automotive Technology. The Principles class focuses on the basic foundation of Auto Tech as well as student leadership. Students go in-depth about leadership and public speaking in the Automotive Technology class as well as “testing electrical systems, brakes, steering and suspension, and engine performance.” Once students move on to Advanced Automotive Technology, they will “go even more in-depth adding engine and transmission rebuilds and restorations.” These three courses give students a well-rounded education about the Auto Tech industry to prepare them for competitions and their future careers.
