New Caney FFA Student wins Grand Champion Steer
New Caney’s annual East Montgomery County Fair held the Steer Show earlier this month, and Tristan Gage from New Caney FFA won Grand Champion Steer! Great job, Tristan!
Students who participated in showing their market animals began with the responsibility of choosing which animals to raise. After the students selected their animals, they had to follow the animals’ growth closely to record every detail. Those details were very important as it determined how well the animals were shown at the fair.
This was a great experience for all the students involved. Students learned how to raise different animals properly and how to measure their progresses. The skill and discipline it took to care for the animals will help them succeed throughout the rest of their lives.
The East Montgomery County Fair and Rodeo aimed to “support the youth of the community” by providing opportunities to get involved. Through different organized activities and competitions, there were many scholarships given out to help encourage students to pursue a higher education. This has been an incredible way to motivate the youth of the Tavola community.
