New Caney ISD Offers Free Healthy Meals to Students

The New Caney Independent School announced its policy to offer healthy meals every school day for all students at no cost.

This is a new initiative made possible by the USDA’s guidance this year, which allows schools across the country to make these free and nutritious meal offers available regardless of household income qualifications.

While no application or eligibility is required for the 2021-2022 school year, these requirements will likely resume in 2022-2023. Therefore, in order to ensure eligibility for free or reduced-price meals for the 2022-2023 school year, the New Caney ISD Child Nutrition Dept. will process household applications during the first 30 days of the 2021-2022 School Year. At that time, they will determine each student's income eligibility requirements for low-cost or no-cost meals for the 2022-2023 school year. Applications can be processed at each school and/or central office site, where a copy of the policy is available on request.
