New Caney ISD Passes $206 Million Budget, Includes 2% Staff Pay Increase
The New Caney ISD board of trustees held a meeting on August 16th, agreeing to approve a budget of over $206 million for the 2021-2022 school year. This budget includes a 2% pay increase for the district’s full-time employees.
This 2% salary increase will be based on each position’s midpoint salary (or control point). In addition, full-time New Caney ISD employees will receive two $500 stipends, one paid out in the fall semester and the other in the spring.
Scott Powers (NCISD Executive Director of Public Relations) said this would increase the starting salary of teachers up to $59,000 for the upcoming school year.
In related news, the district’s education foundation just donated $55,000 to provide continuing education for NCISD’s teachers and staff. Matt Calvert (NCISD Superintendent) said the most important thing they can do is continue to support their staff and students’ ongoing education.
