Porter Fire Department Moving into New $4.5 Million Station

Porter Fire Department is getting a big upgrade, and at no additional cost to taxpayers. The Porter Fire Department is moving out of their previous facility ––– originally built as a volunteer fire department ––– andd into a fully-fledged, $4.5 million dollar facility. The new fire station will be located at 20515 FM 1314 in Porter.

Fire Department Chief Carter Johnson said that they are excited to open the new station, and expect to be open and operational sometime in July. This new facility was created to meet and address the needs of the local community and the growing population in the Cumberland, Riverwalk, The Highlands, and Cumberland Crossing areas.

In addition to firefighters, the new station will be able to host emergency medical services workers and their vehicles, and will also have a workout room for staff members, a cleaning facility with industrial washers and dryers, and more to make sure service personnel are healthy, safe, and comfortable.
