Students From the Tavola Community's Schools Won the Grand Champion Title at the East Montgomery County Fair

New Caney’s annual East Montgomery County Fair held the Livestock competition earlier this month, and two students from the Tavola community’s schools won Grand Champion titles!
Cade Thomas from Keefer Crossing Middle School won the title for the Market Swine division, and Brittany Turner from New Caney FFA for Grand Champion Market Rabbits.

Students who participated in showing their market animals started out with the responsibility of choosing which animals to raise. After the students selected their animals, they had to keep up with the animals' weight, growth and health. Every detail about how the animals were cared for was crucial to how well they showed at the fair.

This was a great experience for all the students involved! Students learned how to raise different animals properly and how to measure their progresses. The skill, discipline, and dedication that the students took away from this event are some that will help them through the rest of their lives.

The East Montgomery County Fair and Rodeo aimed to “support the youth of the community” by providing opportunities to get involved. Through different organized activities and competitions, there were many scholarships given out to help encourage students to pursue a higher education. This has been an incredible way to motivate the youth of the Tavola community.
